Pete Davidson criticised the online harassment and body shaming directed at his former fiancée, Ariana Grande, after renewed scrutiny of her appearance. He said the abuse was “fucked up”, while describing Grande as strong and saying he believed she would cope.

The pair dated and became engaged in 2018, but Davidson said they are no longer in regular contact and remain on good terms. Grande’s representative said she planned to reduce her public visibility after her Eternal Sunshine Tour ended on 1 September; Grande later clarified that the planned break was not a reaction to the body-shaming. She also left the West End revival of *Sunday in the Park With George*, which was later scrapped after Jonathan Bailey withdrew. Davidson is promoting *How to Rob a Bank*, due in cinemas on 13 November.
