Ana Montana, whose real name is Analicia Chaves, was arrested in North Carolina and charged with two felony counts of obtaining controlled substances by fraud or forgery, as well as two misdemeanour possession counts. The case matters because authorities allege a prescription she collected at a Charlotte pharmacy was issued using a doctor’s stolen Drug Enforcement Administration registration and provider credentials.

Chaves’s defence says she was a patient who collected what she believed was a valid prescription, and denies that she forged documents or created prescriptions. She was released on bond and is due in court on 20 October; police records do not name or implicate her partner, NBA player LaMelo Ball. The article says the alleged pharmacy incident dates to February and that the couple welcomed a son in January.
