Venice Golden Lion Winner Milcho Manchevski’s ‘Sister Brother Manhole Cover’ Heads to Tokyo for World Premiere, Trailer Unveiled (EXCLUSIVE)

Milcho Manchevski’s dark comedy “Sister Brother Manhole Cover” will have its world premiere in the main competition at the Tokyo International Film Festival. The film follows two siblings living on the margins of Macedonian society, and marks the return to Tokyo of the Venice Golden Lion-winning director.

Malina and Viktor steal bronze busts and manhole covers to get by, until their chaotic lives bring them into contact with a wealthy blind older woman whose mixture of kindness and severity makes them question their morals and devotion. Sara Klimoska and Filip Trajkovikj star, Jane Kortoshev produces, and Coccinelle Film Sales will begin international sales at Busan’s Asian Contents & Film Market. Manchevski’s earlier film “Before the Rain” won Venice’s Golden Lion and the Fipresci Prize, and received an Academy Award nomination.
