Described as the "SLC Scammer Guy," he tells elaborate stories claiming he is a student recently returned from Europe with no local currency, persuading people to hand over cash for a supposed taxi ride. The scheme has frustrated locals and prompted several businesses to ban him, though many residents appear partly amused by his increasingly viral notoriety.
