Qalo SL-1 review: A barebones smart band that’s priced like a flagship
Qalo has launched the SL-1, a screenless fitness band that tracks health and activity data and combines them into a daily score. At £199.95, it costs as much as Garmin’s Cirqa, giving buyers a direct comparison between a first-generation device from a jewellery brand and a specialist’s established tracker.
The band monitors activity, sleep, heart rate, blood oxygen, heart-rate variability, stress, temperature and menstrual cycles; Qalo says it can run for 12 days per charge and does not require a subscription. Its magnetic strap can come loose when caught by clothing, while the app’s Q Score offers a simplified view of wellbeing but can judge the day before it has properly begun. Existing Qalo smart-ring owners can combine the band’s data with their ring in the same ecosystem.
- Qalo’s SL-1 costs £199.95, matching Garmin’s Cirqa.
- It tracks several health measures and promises 12 days’ battery life.
- Its magnetic strap may come loose, and its daily score has limitations.

Fitness bands are wearable devices that you wear on your wrist to track your activity, sleep, and health metrics like heart rate. Qalo is a jewellery brand that has introduced the SL-1—its first fitness band—which monitors this data and converts it into a daily wellbeing score.
At £199.95, the SL-1 is priced at the premium end of the fitness-band market, comparable to established specialists like Garmin. This represents an ambitious price point for a first product from a jewellery brand entering the sports-tech wearables space.
Qalo has also developed smart rings and other wearable products, and the SL-1 can integrate with these existing devices to share health data across Qalo's ecosystem. This integrated approach to jewellery and health tracking sets Qalo's strategy apart from how traditional sports-tech brands enter the market.
