Prosecutors allege driver deliberately hit group, killing footballer outside Nottingham bar

Prosecutors told Nottingham Crown Court that Duane Anthony deliberately drove a car into a group of people after an argument outside a bar, intending to kill them. The collision fatally injured 26-year-old footballer Tyler Fairman, and Anthony denies murder and five counts of attempted murder.

The court heard that the verbal dispute involved two groups leaving Sasha’s Bar in Arnold at about 1am on 9 May. Prosecutors allege Anthony returned to his car, drove back and mounted the kerb; CCTV showed the impact. Fairman suffered a severe brain injury and died in hospital on 12 May. Anthony, 40, also denies driving while disqualified, while his girlfriend, Destiny Carrier, 29, is accused of assisting an offender.
