Amazon launches two larger children’s tablets with Kids+ subscription
Amazon is releasing kid-friendly versions of its new Alexa Tablets in two sizes, following the popularity of its previous children's tablets. The 8.7-inch and 11-inch models come with colourful protective cases featuring character themes like Paw Patrol and Barbie, along with child-appropriate software and a year's subscription to Amazon Kids+.
The tablets launch on 14 October, priced at $230 and $330 respectively. Both feature aluminium designs, 8-core processors and up to 14-15 hours of battery life, plus child-safety software including Alexa for Kids, a Dynamic Tab recommending age-appropriate content, and a new Storybuilder tool for creating illustrated stories by voice. The pricing marks a significant increase from Amazon's previous Fire Kids tablets, which typically started at around $100.

Amazon manufactures tablets designed for children, featuring curated content, age-appropriate apps and safety controls that let parents monitor usage. The market for children's tablets has grown substantially, with families increasingly using these devices for education, entertainment and parental supervision.
Amazon's tablets are part of the company's broader strategy of selling hardware that connects to its services, particularly Amazon Kids+, a paid subscription offering games, books, videos and educational apps approved for various age groups. Other technology firms, including Apple and Samsung, also produce tablets aimed at families and children.
The cost of children's tablets has become increasingly important to families, as these devices have become more sophisticated and expensive in recent years. Parents typically weigh the price against available content and features, especially how well they can manage their child's screen time and what they access.
