Leaked GTA VI footage shows naked protagonists in 25-minute video

The Verge ·

GTA VI has suffered another substantial leak, with content creator Cyberleek releasing a 25-minute gameplay video showing the game's protagonists completely unclothed whilst performing various in-game activities in Vice City. The leak continues a pattern of unauthorised releases ahead of the game's November launch, prompting Rockstar Games and Take-Two to pursue legal action against those responsible.

The leaked footage shows protagonist Jason naked throughout diverse scenarios including motorbike riding, visiting shops and conversing with other characters, whilst supporting character Lucia appears unclothed in portions of the video. The material includes story elements such as dirt bike race missions, first-person driving sequences and street races, alongside apparent vehicle spawning abilities. Cyberleek reportedly used the platform to advertise cryptocurrency. Rockstar has publicly described the leaks as "heartbreaking", whilst Take-Two continues seeking subpoenas to identify those responsible. Grand Theft Auto VI launches on 19 November.

Grand Theft Auto VI is the latest instalment in one of the world's most successful video game franchises, known for open-world games where players can explore fictional cities. Rockstar Games' series has sold hundreds of millions of copies over its 25-year history, and the new game is among the most anticipated releases in gaming. It is due to launch on 19 November this year.

Unauthorised footage of unreleased games appearing online before their official release, known as leaks, have become an ongoing problem for major developers. GTA VI has experienced several such leaks in the months leading up to launch, with various pieces of gameplay footage shared without permission. Developers and publishers like Rockstar and parent company Take-Two pursue legal action to identify and stop those responsible, as these releases can undermine the carefully controlled marketing campaigns built around major releases.

This latest leak is significant because it represents a substantial amount of content from an unreleased game, showing story missions and gameplay mechanics months before players can legally purchase it. The leak demonstrates ongoing security challenges for major studios and raises questions about how developers protect their intellectual property in the lead-up to significant launches. Unauthorised releases can damage the carefully planned release strategy that studios use to generate anticipation and sales.
