DEVIN TOWNSEND To Release DREAMPEACE ‘Harmonic Dharma’ Album Next Week: ‘I Hope It Brings You The Peace It Has Brought Me’
Devin Townsend will release “Harmonic Dharma”, a DREAMPEACE album intended to encourage rest and ease anxiety, on 16 October. He says the music grew out of a month-long retreat after the demanding creation of his orchestral album “The Moth”, and that he hopes it brings listeners the peace it has brought him.
Townsend created DREAMPEACE after years of insomnia. He first offered the album as a limited-edition CD during a 23-date acoustic and storytelling tour across 10 countries; remaining copies were offered to his Patreon community before the streaming release. The announcement coincides with World Mental Health Day, while Townsend has also described his return to touring as emotionally difficult and partly driven by financial pressures after “The Moth” show lost money.

Devin Townsend is a Canadian musician known for making heavy metal and progressive rock, as well as orchestral music. After years of insomnia, he began DREAMPEACE as a project focused on quieter music intended to help people rest and ease anxiety.
The new album follows “The Moth”, an orchestral work whose creation Townsend described as demanding. He says he spent a month on retreat afterwards, and that the DREAMPEACE music grew from that period. Townsend first offered the album on CD during an acoustic and storytelling tour, then to his Patreon supporters. It is due to reach streaming services on 16 October.
The release comes as Townsend has spoken about finding his return to touring emotionally difficult and about financial pressure after “The Moth” show lost money. This context helps explain why he has described the music in personal terms, while its stated purpose is to offer listeners a chance to rest.
