Saracens and Bristol Bears are two of the leading teams in the Premiership, England's top professional rugby union league. The Premiership consists of ten clubs that compete throughout the season to determine the champion.

Bristol entered this match unbeaten in the 2026-27 season, establishing themselves as one of the year's early strong performers. Saracens had enjoyed considerable success at their home ground, StoneX Stadium, against Bristol in recent Premiership seasons. Both teams therefore had something to prove in this encounter, with Bristol seeking to maintain their undefeated record and Saracens looking to extend their impressive home form.

The match was also significant for the return of Saracens player Noah Caluori, who had been sidelined with a wrist injury since the beginning of the season. His availability added strength to Saracens' squad as they competed near the top of the Premiership.
