Eleven people have been killed and 27 injured after a tourist bus collided with a lorry on a motorway slip road between Bursa and Izmir in western Turkey. The crash occurred on the Gebze-Orhangazi-Izmir Highway, with images showing the coach severely damaged where the lorry struck its rear end.

Of the 27 injured, 16 were hospitalised. Turkish emergency services responded quickly with rescue efforts. Both the bus driver and lorry driver have been detained whilst police investigate the cause of the collision. The victims' nationalities remain unclear, though the UK Foreign Office said it had not been approached for assistance.
