Five Organizations Launch Asian Producers Alliance In Busan Market
Five independent producers’ organisations from Korea, Indonesia, the Philippines, Hong Kong and Taiwan have formed the Asian Producers Alliance (APA) at the Busan film market. The coalition aims to help producers work across borders and protect creators’ intellectual property as the film industry adapts to streaming and short-form content.
The founding members are their respective producers’ associations, with Lee Dong-ha and Edwin Nazir serving as co-representatives and Han Jin and Yulia Evina Bhara as co-secretaries general for one-year terms. APA plans quarterly online meetings and an annual assembly in Busan, welcomes additional regional organisations, and will next meet at the JAFF Market in Indonesia in December to discuss creators’ intellectual property.

Film producers are independent creators who develop content for cinemas, television and streaming platforms. The industry is undergoing significant change as streaming services and short-form online content become central to how audiences consume video. At the same time, producers increasingly want to collaborate across borders to reach larger audiences and share creative expertise.
The Asian Producers Alliance is a partnership of producers' organisations from five countries: Korea, Indonesia, the Philippines, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The alliance aims to make cross-border collaboration easier for creators whilst ensuring their intellectual property is protected. This kind of regional coordination helps producers adapt to the rapid changes affecting the film and content industry.
