It looks like Apple Music is getting a new icon

The Verge ·

Apple has reportedly replaced Apple Music’s familiar red app icon with a monochrome design in the latest iOS 27.2 beta, suggesting a wider visual refresh. The change could align the app with a new Apple Music logo spotted last month and may reach users if it is included in a public iOS release.

The beta icon shows a black music note on white in light mode, reversed in dark mode, with a slightly sharper note shape. Apple Music widgets reportedly now have black backgrounds, while a blue highlight marks the active tab; a tinted Home Screen option could let users add colour to the new icon.

Apple Music is Apple’s music streaming service, where users can listen to songs, albums and playlists through an app on Apple devices. Its app icon is the image shown on the Home Screen, and its appearance can change as Apple updates the software on its devices.

Apple controls the service’s design, while people who use it can choose settings such as light or dark display modes. A changed icon or widget design may signal a broader visual update, but a feature seen in trial software can still change before it reaches the public.
