Saka responds to Arteta’s challenge with ‘huge impact’

BBC Sport ·

Bukayo Saka came off the bench to score and assist in Arsenal’s 3-0 Champions League win over Lille, answering manager Mikel Arteta’s call for him to have a greater impact in front of goal. His contribution mattered as Arsenal manage a demanding run of fixtures and look to make Saka an even more decisive attacking player.

Saka had been unwell and was not fit to start, but assisted Eberechi Eze’s goal before scoring Arsenal’s third. He has four goals in nine games this season and five in his last four England appearances; his strike against Lille took him to 19 goals in major European competitions for Arsenal. Arteta has adjusted his positioning to bring him closer to goal and urged him to keep seeking scoring chances.
