LG adds DTS:X and Google Cast to its Sound Suite home theater system
LG is adding DTS:X and Google Cast support to its premium Sound Suite home theatre system, responding to customer feedback. The changes broaden the system’s audio and streaming options, while new Wi-Fi support and dual subwoofers give owners more ways to configure it.
The H7 soundbar, the system’s centrepiece, gains DTS:X for compatible content and devices, plus Google Cast for streaming music and podcasts. Sound Suite now supports 6 GHz Wi-Fi and 5 GHz DFS channels, as well as two W7 subwoofers. LG is also developing a Media Connect Hub to bring DTS:X from compatible external devices, but has not yet explained how it will work; software updates are rolling out in some regions, with timing varying by location.

Home theatre systems combine speakers and a soundbar to make film, television and music sound fuller than they might through a TV alone. LG’s Sound Suite is a premium system built around the H7 soundbar, with additional speakers and subwoofers that can be arranged around a room.
DTS:X is an audio format designed to create a sense of sound coming from different directions, when the programme and equipment support it. Google Cast lets people send music and other audio from compatible apps and devices to speakers. Wi-Fi bands and channels affect how devices connect to a home network, while subwoofers handle low-pitched sounds such as bass.
These options matter because people use home theatre systems for different kinds of content and may have different home network setups. Support for more formats, streaming and speaker configurations can make a system work with a wider range of devices and listening preferences.
