James Mangold’s DC Horror Movie ‘Swamp Thing’ Is Officially Happening
DC Studios co-chief Peter Safran says James Mangold’s Swamp Thing film is still moving forward, confirming the director remains involved. The update matters because the project was announced years ago with few details, leaving fans uncertain whether it would be made.
The studio is waiting for Mangold to deliver a screenplay; Safran said the filmmaker had been occupied with his Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, and is now ready to return to the project. Mangold said in April 2023 that he was writing the film. Swamp Thing is a vegetation-based being who carries scientist Alec Holland’s memories and personality, giving the story scope beyond a monster-focused spectacle.
