Neuromancer is based on a 1984 novel by William Gibson, set in a future where powerful companies and computer networks shape everyday life. It follows Case, a skilled hacker drawn into a dangerous job, and Molly, a capable fighter who works with him.
The story helped define cyberpunk, a style of science fiction focused on advanced technology, corporate power and life on society’s edges. Its dense imagined world and emphasis on computer networks have made it influential, while also posing a challenge for screen adaptations.
