Controversial Battlefield 6 XP changes have been reversed, with Battlefield Studios saying they were “unintended”
Battlefield Studios has reversed an unintended reduction in XP gains that began with Battlefield 6’s Season 5 launch. The drop frustrated players because it was not announced in advance and coincided with the release of a paid pack that unlocks extensive progression, prompting suspicions that XP had been deliberately cut.
The studio said backend configuration changes affected XP across game modes and weapon progression, and that it is monitoring results after reverting them. Player testing suggested gains had been capped at 300 XP per minute. The Ultimate Shortcut Kit costs $30 or £25 and unlocks all classes, 28 weapons and eight vehicles, along with their upgrades and other level-gated items; the launch also drew criticism over suspected generative AI content and a returning exploit.

Battlefield 6 is a multiplayer military shooter in which players earn experience points (XP) by playing matches. XP raises a player’s level and advances weapon and class progress, which unlocks equipment and upgrades over time.
Battlefield Studios makes and runs the game. Its paid Ultimate Shortcut Kit offers many of those unlocks at once, including classes, weapons and vehicles. The XP change drew attention because it arrived alongside that offer, leading some players to question whether slower progress was connected to the paid pack.
