Mauricio Tapia, the 26-year-old frontman of Los Retros, has been charged in California with four felony counts involving children under the age of ten. The case matters to the band and its label: Stones Throw said it is taking steps to disassociate itself from Tapia after learning of the allegations.

Tapia was arrested on 8 October and taken to Ventura County Jail the following day; his bail was set at $3 million. He is due in court on 22 October, and court records reportedly include special allegations that the alleged victim was vulnerable and Tapia held a position of trust. No further details have been released. Los Retros have released three albums since forming in 2017 and have more than 2.8 million monthly Spotify listeners.
