From ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ To Scottish Indie Boss: Kevin McKidd On Ferryman Films & His New Show ‘The Only Suspect’
Kevin McKidd has launched Edinburgh-based Ferryman Films, drawing on his experience in Hollywood to develop Scottish projects with local writers and international television talent. The move expands his work beyond acting and directing, while bringing more attention and production opportunities to stories rooted in Scotland.
Ferryman Films has partnered with STV Studios, with an adaptation of William Shaw’s detective novel *The Red Shore* as their first project together; the BBC series *Friends Like These* is also in development. McKidd has completed filming ITV psychological drama *The Only Suspect*, in which he plays Alex, a man whose seemingly settled life conceals a long-kept secret. The series shifts between the present and 1990s London, and McKidd says its twists and morally complicated central character drew him to the role.
