How ‘Call of Duty’ Found Its ‘Modern Warfare 4’ Cast, From Mads Mikkelsen’s Villain to Prisca Kim’s Ri Ju-Young
Infinity Ward’s next game, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4”, will continue Captain John Price and Task Force 141’s story, with a conflict between North and South Korea. Narrative director Jeff Negas says the studio often starts casting from a character design, then lets the actor’s performance shape the character, making the choices important to how the story is told.
The cast combines returning performers and newcomers, including Barry Sloane as Price, Samuel Roukin as Ghost, Mads Mikkelsen as villain The Archer and Prisca Kim as North Korean official Ri Ju-Young. Negas says Roukin’s voice helped make Ghost feel grounded, while Kim’s restrained performance led the team towards portraying Ri Ju-Young through quiet power. The game is planned for a fall launch.
