LaRoyce Hawkins Opens Up About His Final ‘Chicago P.D.’ Episode as Kevin Atwater

LaRoyce Hawkins has left *Chicago P.D.* after playing Kevin Atwater since the series began in 2014. In his final episode, Atwater chooses to move from Chicago to Atlanta with Tasha Fox and their newborn son, giving the character a family-led departure after years on the force.

The episode, “Don’t Blink”, aired on 14 October and ends with Atwater’s colleagues celebrating him at a bar. Atwater’s decision is shaped by his response to an absent father he encounters at work, as well as the limits on his career after he challenged racism and the “Blue Wall” within the police force. Hawkins said the role’s stories about policing, race and the pandemic may remain meaningful to future viewers.
