The European Challenge Cup is a rugby union competition for clubs from across Europe, including sides from England, France, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Teams play in pools before the knockout rounds, and it gives clubs a chance to compete internationally alongside their domestic leagues.
Toulon are a French club based in the city of the same name, while Edinburgh represent Scotland’s capital. Melvyn Jaminet is a French full-back, a position in which players defend deep and often join attacks; the Challenge Cup brings clubs such as these together across national borders.
