Costume shops and trend watchers say Halloween outfits in 2026 are drawing on popular films and television, online trends and fashion, with choices ranging from glamorous to gothic. The forecasts show that many people are looking to recreate recognisable characters or striking looks, rather than simply choosing frightening costumes.

Likely choices include Claudia Winkleman from The Traitors, Nikki from Obsession and characters from Off Campus and Widow’s Bay. Nikki’s red and black zebra-print top reportedly drew a 27,000-person waitlist before returning to shops. Other inspirations include 1990s and 2000s favourites such as Buffy and Practical Magic, alongside Gothic romance, historical styles and films including The Odyssey and The Bride!.
