Ohope Wins euthanased after falling in Caulfield Cup finish
Ohope Wins was euthanased after falling near the finish of the Caulfield Cup, a major Australian horse race. The mare was brought down at the 250-metre mark when Half Yours fell, casting a shadow over a race otherwise won by Kingswood.
Kingswood, trained by Gavin Bedggood and ridden by John Allen, won the 150th Caulfield Cup by half a length from Saint George, with Enfjaar third and favourite Cosmic Crusader fourth. The seven-year-old overcame a wide draw and paid $26 on the TAB. Jockeys Jye McNeil and Mark Zahra were uninjured and taken to hospital for observation; Half Yours had superficial-looking cuts.
