Russell Crowe’s Best-Reviewed Movie in 27 Years Is Officially Coming Home

Russell Crowe and Ethan Hawke’s Western drama *The Weight* will be available to watch at home from 20 October, after a three-week cinema run. Its modest box-office performance contrasts with strong reviews, making its home release an opportunity to reach a wider audience.

Directed by first-time feature filmmaker Padraic McKinley, the film earned a 94% Rotten Tomatoes score and is Crowe’s best-reviewed film since *The Insider* (96%) in 1999. It grossed just over $3 million in cinemas after premiering at Sundance earlier this year and opening in September. McKinley has since been chosen to direct *Sicario 3*.
