Glasgow get bonus-point win at emotion-filled Sale

BBC Sport ·

Glasgow Warriors beat Sale Sharks 43-21 in an emotional Champions Cup match, pulling away in the second half to earn a bonus point. The game was played after a minute’s silence for former Sale lock Hyron Andrews, who died on Friday; Sale’s director of rugby said the squad was supporting one another and Andrews’s family.

Sale made a strong start, with Ben Curry and Arron Reed scoring, but Glasgow replied through a penalty try, Kyle Steyn and Jamie Dobie. Alex Craig and Ollie Smith also crossed for Glasgow, while Sale’s Reed scored again; Ottavio Tuipulotu completed the visitors’ tally. A new tournament rule awards an extra point for scoring at least three more tries than the opposition; Glasgow next host Pau in December, while Sale travel to Leinster.
