ANDREW WATT Believes TONY IOMMI’s Comment About Potential Final BLACK SABBATH Album Was ‘Taken Out Of Context’
Producer Andrew Watt says a proposed Black Sabbath album with the original line-up fell through because drummer Bill Ward could not take part for personal reasons. Watt’s account challenges the impression that guitarist Tony Iommi rejected the project because Watt was “too excited”, and sheds light on the band’s discussions about making another record after 2013’s *13*.
Watt said Ozzy Osbourne wanted to make music with Ward, and asked him to contact Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and Ward. Iommi and Butler were willing if Ward could join, but Ward later sent the group an email saying he could not do it. Watt said Iommi’s remark was taken out of context and suggested he may have been joking; he also described Iommi as a friend and mentor.
