As too much of the industry embrace their own death through genAI, Konami say it’s real people that are most important for making good games
Konami Digital Entertainment president Hideki Hayakawa says generative AI is unlikely to transform game development, arguing that people and creators remain central to making entertaining, innovative games. His comments offer a measured counterpoint to claims that AI will make producing games much easier.
Hayakawa said game engines and user-generated content have already lowered barriers to entry, while the creative mix of developers from different backgrounds is difficult to replace. Konami still plans to help staff learn about new technologies, assess their risks and apply them safely; the remarks do not rule out the company using AI.
