Four more NHS staff dismissed over access to Nottingham victims’ records

Daily Mail ·

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust has dismissed four more employees for accessing the medical records of victims of the 2023 Nottingham attacks without a legitimate reason, bringing total dismissals to 15. The cases add to the distress of victims’ families and have renewed scrutiny of how the NHS protects confidential patient information, while a public inquiry into the attacks continues.

The trust also issued 15 final written warnings and two first written warnings, and said investigations into access to records of three survivors are ongoing. Barnaby Webber’s mother, Emma Webber, said she believes as many as 150 staff accessed records and is challenging the trust’s finding that 48 had legitimate access. The trust’s medical director apologised to the families and said the organisation would investigate and take action.
