Reform activist caught on camera saying asylum seekers should be put in ‘concentration camps’

The Independent ·

An aspiring Reform UK MP was recorded telling an undercover reporter that asylum seekers arriving by small boat should be put in “concentration camps” and that Muslims could not be British. The comments form part of an ITV investigation that has prompted allegations of racism and misogyny within the party, and renewed scrutiny of its leadership and candidate vetting.

The activist described himself as hardline on Islam and said being Muslim and British was “like oil and water”. Other footage reportedly includes a Reform councillor describing the party’s board as holding views that could lead to expulsion if stated publicly, as well as earlier clips showing racist language by members and candidates. Reform said it had improved vetting, was investigating cases of inappropriate behaviour, and had “no room for racism” in the party; Labour chair Bridget Phillipson said Nigel Farage was unfit to lead.
