Clive Barker Teases ‘Hellraiser: Revival’ Video Game Has Reignited “Many Ideas” For Film Franchise: “Planning To Keep My Fingers In That Pie”
Clive Barker says the release of the Hellraiser: Revival video game has renewed his interest in developing ideas for the film franchise. The writer and director of the original 1987 film says he hopes to stay involved and would like to see new ideas realised in the Hellraiser universe.
Barker’s comments follow the launch of the game by Saber Interactive, which he described as a prompt to revisit established fictional worlds in new ways. He created Hellraiser from his 1986 novella The Hellbound Heart, introducing Pinhead and the Cenobites; the franchise has since expanded to 11 films, as well as books, comics and games. Barker reclaimed the US rights in 2020 and later produced the 2022 Hulu reboot.
