Ukrainian drone attack sets fire to oil terminal and data centre in St Petersburg

Daily Mail ·

Ukraine launched a large drone attack on St Petersburg, setting fire to a Russian oil terminal, an e-commerce logistics hub and a data centre. The strike killed one person and injured five, and comes as tensions between Kyiv and Washington are rising over US policy towards Russia and support for Ukraine.

Leningrad Region governor Alexander Drozdenko said debris damaged homes, cars and power lines, causing brief power cuts; airport departures at Pulkovo were disrupted for safety reasons. Russia’s Defence Ministry said its air defences downed 1,015 Ukrainian drones overnight. The attack followed US President Donald Trump’s order blocking proposed sanctions that included 500 per cent tariffs on Russian energy, and reports of limits to Starlink access and intelligence sharing with Ukraine.
