‘Happy Death Day’ Officially Returns With New Sci-Fi Horror Sequel

Collider ·

The *Happy Death Day* franchise is returning with an original comic, written by Tim Seeley, as part of a new partnership between Blumhouse and IDW Dark. The announcement gives fans a new instalment after the 2019 sequel, while keeping open the possibility of the third film that director Christopher Landon has discussed.

The comic is due to follow *The Purge* in the partnership’s lineup, which is set to begin in late 2027, but it has no announced release date. IDW Dark editor Heather Antos said conversations with Landon helped shape the comic while leaving room for his proposed film story. No artist, synopsis or lead character has been announced, and the comic does not mean a third film has been approved.
