U2 to skip Chile on Latin American tour for first time after negotiations reportedly fall through

NME ·

U2 will skip Chile on the first announced dates of their 2027 Latin American tour, marking the first time they have omitted the country from a regional tour. Reports say negotiations to bring the band to Santiago fell through, though the reason has not been confirmed; the absence matters because Chile has featured on all four of their previous Latin American tours.

The six announced shows are in Mexico City, São Paulo and Buenos Aires in February and March, with Beck supporting. Santiago’s Estadio Nacional, the venue for all four previous Chilean concerts, had faced restrictions prioritising sport over live music and was considered the only suitable local venue for the production, but its availability has not been established as the cause. The tour supports U2’s forthcoming album *Carnaval De Luz*, due on 13 November, and will include drummer Larry Mullen Jr.’s return to full-scale live performances.
