Red Hot Chili Peppers and Foo Fighters Dust Off Rarities at Silverlake Benefit Gig
Red Hot Chili Peppers and Foo Fighters played rare material at a benefit concert in Los Angeles, marking the 25th anniversary of the Silverlake Conservatory of Music. The event raised support for the nonprofit music school, co-founded by Chili Peppers bassist Flea, which provides music education and scholarships.
The Chili Peppers performed “Organic Anti-Beat Box Band” and “Blackeyed Blonde”, both absent from their live sets since 2000, as well as “Nevermind”, which John Frusciante had not played with the band since 1992. Foo Fighters revived their cover of Gerry Rafferty’s “Baker Street” for the first time since 2007. The concert also featured Vince Staples and host Marc Maron; the school serves more than 900 students each week, with over 200 receiving scholarships.
