Kenia Os Knew Latin Pop Would Go Global

Rolling Stone ·

Kenia Os says she backed Spanish-language pop when it had little airplay, and has helped raise its profile through hits such as “Malas Decisiones”. Her latest album, *K de Karma*, reflects heartbreak, romance and her views on resilience, while her career unfolds in a Mexican music industry where regional genres dominate.

Released in March, the album includes collaborations with Carla Morrison and draws on themes of feminine power and sensuality. Kenia also worked with Xavi on “Malas Mañas”, blending corrido and urban pop, and says women artists face more comparisons and scrutiny than men. She is looking to broaden her reach beyond Mexico and pop, including a planned collaboration with electronic artist Anyma.
