Google Gemini 4 agents just beat Minecraft with no human intervention
Four Google Gemini 4 Argon agents beat Minecraft’s Ender Dragon without human intervention, coordinating through in-game chat and shared memory. The researchers say the result shows general AI agents can complete a complex game using a standard player-control library, without custom game-specific tools.
The agents divided tasks, shared warnings and tips, and recovered items from fallen teammates during a 27-hour run. They wrote and ran 2,783 programmes, exchanged 229 messages and died 605 times; the effort used 1.35 billion input tokens and cost $810 at Gemini’s list price, or $1,620 at the standard price.

Minecraft is a game in which players gather materials, build and survive in a world made of blocks. Its main campaign can lead to a battle with the Ender Dragon, a powerful enemy in a separate area called the End.
AI agents are computer systems that can take actions towards a goal. In a shared game, several agents can divide tasks and pass information to one another, much as human players do. The reported run is relevant to research into whether AI can handle long, multi-step tasks using ordinary controls, rather than tools built for one specific game.
