‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star Kevin McKidd & Laura Fraser Cast In BBC’s ‘The Young Team’ From Director Paul McGuigan

Kevin McKidd and Laura Fraser have joined the BBC drama The Young Team, a Scottish-set adaptation directed by Paul McGuigan. The casting brings McKidd and McGuigan back to Scotland for a project centred on young people and gang life in Airdrie.

The story follows teenager Azzy Williams and his friends as Azzy tries to earn acceptance into a local gang, setting off a violent conflict. McKidd plays Azzy’s headteacher and Fraser his mother; Jakob James Smith plays Azzy, alongside a largely young Scottish cast selected through open auditions. More than 1,000 young people applied, and the BBC has pledged £100 million for Scottish drama over three years.
