Story Of Jewish Spiritual Leader The Rebbe, Who Was Recognized By Bill Clinton & George W. Bush, Being Told In Feature Doc ‘The Emissary Of Light’

A feature documentary about Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, known as the Rebbe, is in production. The film will explore his influence as leader of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement and the debate over the public display of Jewish identity, using the public menorah as its central theme.

Directed and produced by Rachel Greenberg, the film follows the rise of large Hanukkah menorahs in public spaces and the arguments they sparked about religious visibility in America. Schneerson met several US presidents; Bill Clinton posthumously awarded him the Congressional Gold Medal, while George W. Bush recognised his commitment to education. The production team includes people behind documentaries on Menachem Begin and Joe Lieberman.
