Gwyneth Paltrow Sets First Lead TV Role in A24 Drama ‘The Apology’ at Netflix
Gwyneth Paltrow will make her first lead television appearance in A24 drama The Apology, which Netflix has ordered for two seasons. She plays Evelyn Amspoker, whose son’s 18-year-old murder case is reopened when a stranger confesses, but the possibility of a reduced sentence leads Evelyn and her husband to take matters into their own hands.
Joe Murtagh created and will showrun the series, with Thomas Vinterberg directing; both are also executive producers alongside Paltrow and Joe Hipps. Paltrow previously had supporting and guest roles on television, including Glee and The Politician, but has not led a TV series. Netflix’s order comes amid company changes, including reported 6% staff cuts and recent leadership departures.
