Mystery as five people are found dead in suburban Chicago home

Five people were found dead from gunshot wounds in a home in Mundelein, a suburb northwest of Chicago, after police carried out a welfare check late on Sunday. The deaths have unsettled the normally quiet community, while investigators work to establish what happened.

Police said the victims were three men and two women who appeared to be members of the same family or in a domestic relationship. Officers found two handguns in the home; authorities have not released the victims’ names or ages, identified a suspected shooter or motive, and said the incident poses no threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing.
