New Pokémon Release Finally Lets You Play As Team Rocket

Team Rocket Evolved is an upcoming fan-made Pokémon Emerald ROM hack that lets players take the role of a Team Rocket grunt. Its premise turns the usual journey into a struggle to steal Pokémon, take over areas and rise through the organisation, offering fans a different perspective on the series.

Players will still travel through Hoenn and face gym leaders, but locals will be hostile and Pokémon Centres will only become available after an area is under Rocket control. The game will include costly, scarce healing alternatives, calls for backup and Pokémon from every generation, with Mega Evolutions and Dynamax Evolutions. Creator EricTurner3 says he and his wife are making it without AI; the project remains in development.
