Zelensky prepares for Oslo talks with US envoys as Rubio denies withholding intelligence

BBC World ·

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Oslo for talks with US envoy Steve Witkoff and European representatives, amid worsening relations with President Donald Trump. Norway says the meeting, requested by Ukraine and organised with Finland, aims to put diplomacy on a more constructive path and support a lasting, just peace.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio rejected claims that Washington is withholding intelligence, after a Ukrainian military adviser said unreliable warnings had cost lives. Zelensky said he had discussed early warnings, missile interceptors and Starlink with Rubio; the status of additional Patriot interceptors remains unclear. The talks also come amid European concern about US signals towards Russia and the burden of funding Ukraine’s defence.

  • Zelensky and US and European representatives are meeting in Oslo.
  • Rubio denies the US is deliberately withholding intelligence from Ukraine.
