Woke Minneapolis restaurant that had no prices and fed people for free is closing down, surprising no one

Daily Mail ·

Post Modern Times, a pay-what-you-wish restaurant in South Minneapolis, plans to close at the end of the year after nearly 16 years. Owner Dylan Alverson said he had exhausted options for keeping it open without changing its core values; the closure ends a business that prioritised access to food and community support.

For six months, the restaurant removed prices and relied on public donations, serving about 30,000 meals, according to a social media post. Alverson said nearly 85 per cent of its customers faced homelessness, addiction or other barriers to accessing food and restaurants. The model drew both support and criticism online, while Alverson said he did not regret feeding people.
