‘Young Sheldon’ Star Iain Armitage Says He Was the ‘Most Happy’ About the Show Ending: I Wasn’t ‘Going Home and Crying All Day’
Iain Armitage says he was the cast member happiest when “Young Sheldon” ended in 2024, after seven seasons. The actor, who played Sheldon from the age of eight, welcomed the chance to travel and take on different work, and said he did not want to remain in a period of mourning over the show.
Looking back two years later, Armitage describes his feelings as “nostalgic sad” and says he misses the crew and the experience of acting, rather than particular moments. He called the role a privilege but a major undertaking for a child, while co-star Lance Barber said Armitage was ready for new artistic and personal experiences. The successful series also led to the 2024 spin-off “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage”.
