Gemini conversations arrive in Google Maps on CarPlay

Engadget ·

Google has begun rolling out Gemini in Google Maps for Apple CarPlay, letting drivers speak with the chatbot while navigating. The feature is intended to help people find places, ask questions and report traffic disruptions through conversation.

A Gemini icon appears at the bottom right of Maps; tapping it starts a chat, including questions with several parts. The rollout is reaching CarPlay users in the US and elsewhere, but may take a few days to appear on individual devices. The announcement follows Google’s rollout of Gemini Personal Intelligence for Android Auto, which can draw on information from other Google apps to tailor answers.
