Russia ready to resume talks with Ukraine and US to end war
Vladimir Putin’s top aide, Yuri Ushakov, says Russia is ready in principle to restart talks with Ukraine and the United States on ending the war. The suggestion follows a meeting between Putin and US envoy Steve Witkoff in St Petersburg and could mark a return to negotiations suspended in February.
Ushakov said a new round might take place around 10 November in Abu Dhabi, with discussions focused on post-war security arrangements for Russia and Ukraine. A US official said the US, Russia and Ukraine had each accepted a proposal for a technical-level trilateral meeting. Russia says its forces hold the initiative on the battlefield, a claim Ukraine and its European allies dispute; the talks come amid tensions between Kyiv and Washington.
