Miami man accused of assaulting Grindr date and biting roommate

Police say Cesar Menendez de la Cruz, 37, was arrested after a Grindr date in Miami turned violent when his date asked him to leave. The allegations include assaulting the date and biting both him and his roommate; the case matters because it involves several serious criminal charges.

According to an arrest report, Menendez de la Cruz allegedly took the date’s phone, pinned him against a bed, punched and forcibly kissed him, then bit the date and his roommate as they tried to remove him. Police said he remained naked in a bedroom, speaking incoherently, and was tased after ignoring officers’ instructions in English and Spanish. He is being held in Miami and faces charges including burglary with assault or battery, robbery by sudden snatching and witness or victim tampering.
