Eritrean criminal migrant who sexually assaulted woman before being stopped by hero passer-by set to be deported as he’s jailed
An asylum seeker has been jailed for four months after admitting sexually assaulting a woman in Prestatyn, North Wales. The court heard that a passing motorist intervened when Behailu Naedw grabbed the woman after she challenged him, and the judge said the interruption may have prevented further harm. Naedw has withdrawn his asylum claim and says he wants to return to Eritrea; he is expected to be held in immigration detention after his sentence while deportation is arranged.
The incident took place in July 2025, after the woman saw Naedw trying a neighbour’s door and received a notification from her Ring camera. The court heard he had ten previous offences, including burglary, vehicle crime, drug offences and assaults. The Home Office is expected to seek an emergency travel order, a process the court heard can take 45 days; the article also notes that nearly 5,900 Eritreans crossed the Channel by small boat in the year to June.
